Hi, I'm Shane Chung! I'm a Chicago-based independent filmmaker. I wear many hats in the film world including director, writer, producer, cinematographer and editor, and I hope you can join me in my journey in making absolutely everything. I champion diversity, equity, and wackiness in the film industry and enjoy pushing the boundaries of what a genre film can be about.
The last project I directed was CHECK PLEASE (2024), is a martial arts action comedy that’s equal parts a zany homage to the works of Jackie Chan and Stephen Chow, and a bighearted reflection on the “in-betweenness” of holding an Asian-American identity. It premiered earlier this year at Fantastic Fest 2024.
After earning my film degree from Northwestern University, I now work on set for projects ranging from films to tapings to coprorate shoots. I have accrued a wealth of production knowledge in every part of the pipeline, and excel at production coordination, on-set improvisation and being a swiss-army-man crew member on small and nimble sets.
